UJS is spearheading the first ever student delegation to the March of the Living in Poland.

Leaving Wednesday, 7 April, 2010 and returning Monday, 12 April, 2010, the March of The Living is an international educational programme that brings together Jews and non-Jews of all ages from all over the world to Poland on Yom Hashoa (Holocaust Memorial Day) to march from Auschwitz to Birkenau and vow: “Never Again”.

UJS has three free places up for grabs: you need only to pay for your flights. See below for more information. For your chance to join the experience of a lifetime, email richard@ujs.org.uk

Participation is subject to a commitment to educate others on campus when back in the UK and may be subject to interview.

Each year thousands of students and adults, Jews and non Jews, join survivors and participate in a march from Auschwitz 1 to Auschwitz 2 (Birkenau). This march takes place each year on Yom Hashoah and is known as March of the Living.

March of the Living (MOL) was set up in 1988 in Israel, with the objective of taking students from around the world to Poland and then onto Israel. The mission of The MOL is to challenge a new generation of Jews, by bringing together adults and teenagers from different countries and cultures, secular and religious and of every religious denomination. By bringing the groups to the key places of the Shoah, in order to understand the world that was destroyed, it allows the participants to educate their peers about the Holocaust and to fight those who deny its history.

Scott has led the Hong Kong delegation for the past three years and he, along with Fred Knoller, world renowned lecturer, author and Auschwitz survivor intends to lead a delegation from London this coming year.

The 2010 delegation will start on April 7, 2010 in Warsaw. The March itself will take place on April 12. There will be a full itinerary from Warsaw, including the magnificent cemetery, the Umschlagplatz and the ghetto. From there we will visit Lublin and Majdanek. We intend to spend Shabbat in Krakow, followed by a full day exploring the Jewish History of this beautiful city.

This is an amazing journey, a journey of education, of emotion and of unity. We hope you will consider joining us on this journey and become part of the 2010 delegation from London.

Regards,

Scott Saunders (MOL) and Richard Verber (UJS)
