  • HOW IS THE HOLOCAUST IMPACTING ON YOUR LIFE?

The Stanley Burton Centre for Holocaust Studies at the University of Leicester is seeking to find Jewish participants to take part in a project that seeks to study how the Holocaust is still impacting on Jewish lives in Britain.

  • Holocaust Memorial Day

Holocaust Memorial Day is on the 27th January, and the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, the Nazi concentration and death camp. Holocaust Memorial Day, a government-instituted programme, is designed to remember and reflect on the Nazi’s Holocaust, the humiliation and ultimate destruction of the lives of 6 million Jews and around 1 million gay people, black people, ethnic minorities, disabled people, Roma, political opponents and others.

  • HEROES

Starting in January, UJS will be beginning a Heroes Campaign, aiming at inspiring Jewish leadership countrywide and pushing Jewish students to stand up and make a difference. The Heroes campaign will target various projects throughout the year and put a spin on each one, showing how through that programming, there is the potential to create Jewish heroes.

  • Darfur

Darfur, a region roughly two-thirds the size of France, is located in the west of Africa’s largest country, Sudan. The six million citizens of Darfur, whilst being members of one of the estimated 36 different ethnic tribes in the area, are almost all Muslim of either African or Arab origin.

  • UJS Women's Campaign

This year, UJS is launching its Womens Campaign. The Campaign aims to empower women to aspire to leadership roles within and outside the community, in particular within campaigns, educate Jewish students about women’s issues, and engage in national campaigns to promote women’s rights.
