YOUR J-SOC

Your local Jewish Society is the focus of Jewish life on campus. It is one of the many societies on offer at university and is affiliated to the university students' union.

J-Soc committees are elected annually to plan and run events on and around your campus.

On the social scene there are a variety of activities on offer. If going out for a drink is your thing then you may chose the pub and club nights that are on offer. If it is eating you are in to, Friday night meals, Bagel Brunches, and Schwarma nights will satisfy those hunger pains! Then to work off the calories from all the food and drink you may want to join the J-Soc sports teams as well!

Many students are also interested in the political side of student life. Representing Jewish students on campus is at the forefront of local political activism. There are so many opportunities to get involved within your university union and the NUS (National Union of Students) through J-Soc activities.

Learning at university does not have to be confined to your lecture theatre either. J-Soc provides a variety of educational opportunities including speakers, shiurim, debates, discussion groups, and one-to-one learning to satisfy everyone's taste.

You may also begin to think about life after university during your time in J-Soc, so regular interest groups are on offer that allow you the chance to meet professionals, discuss relevant issues, organise work placements, and maybe even a full-time graduate job! Past interest groups have included business, law, and medical groups, but more can be organised if you get involved and tell your J-Soc committee what you would like to do!

Your J-Soc is there to do whatever you want it to do. So take full advantage of what it has to offer!
