Young Jewish Political Network
- Having been a UJS activist for the last few years and finishing your final year at University, we thought you may be interested to know a little bit more about what the newly formed Young Jewish Political Network (YJPN) can do for you beyond university.
As a UJS activist you know all too well about the many issues Jewish students face on campus but this does not stop once university ends! The YJPN will enable you to continue your involvement as an activist long after you finish university.
The YJPN has a clear vision of providing an environment in which Jewish political activists can come together to network, socialise, share and explore ideas and continue to widen their professional political development. The ultimate goal of the YJPN is to create a pool of young Jewish political activists who are empowered to represent the Jewish community on matters relevant to Anglo-Jewry and pro-Israel advocacy.
From an initial gathering of just a handful, the network has grown enormously over the past year and now has over 100 members from a host of different professions. We have begun by hosting a number of informal networking events, but will be developing this further in 2009 to incorporate a training aspect on matters relevant to Anglo-Jewry.
There are a number of concerns facing the Anglo-Jewish community at present - how best to tackle the rise of the BNP especially in the run-up to next year's local elections; the increasing anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism which the community is facing; and ensuring that Israel is presented in the most positive light - and the community is increasingly looking towards the younger generations to be the driving force in addressing many of these issues.
As the next generation of leaders and activists within the Anglo-Jewish community, we have the opportunity to make a difference, to stand up and fight for what we believe in. Most importantly, we have the support of the Jewish community behind us.
If you interested in becoming a member of YJPN as a final year student or would like to know more about the YJPN, then please do not hesitate to be in contact with us at yjpnuk@yahoo.co.uk

Are you in a Band? Want to have your music vid seen by millions?
- What we want from you is a short video, which should start with the band talking briefly about something relevant to students - whether it's your own experience of being students, forming a band at university, playing a gig at a student union, or even a message to students about getting involved in a particular campaign or issue. It would then lead into a live song, the whole thing lasting around 3-4 minutes.
