Nottingham University has one of the fastest growing Jewish populations in the UK and J-Soc aims to provide for all of these students. There are multiple events per week including educational (both Jewish and Israel related), sports, social, interfaith and social action events, as well as a campaigns team to ensure that Jewish welfare is looked after on campus. These take place for both Nottingham University and Nottingham Trent students, and weekly Friday night dinners are held at the Hillel J-Soc Centre.
Nottingham has a great student social and night life. The city centre includes an excellent range of shops and restaurants and is an extremely vibrant place in the day and at night. Both Nottingham university and Nottingham Trent hold club nights at a selection of Nottingham's best clubs. In addition there are bars and pubs to suit all tastes.
Kosher flats can be arranged with the help of UJS. There is no official university accommodation that is kosher. There is normally at least one kosher flat in the self-catered accommodation.

The local Jewish community is small, but very welcoming. Students are invited to attend services at shul on Shabbat and chaggim, and students regularly visit the Jewish elderly people's home.
