JSoc Notes

Bristol is now seen as an up and coming Jewish university and we like to think our J-Soc caters for everyone! We run a Friday night meal every 2 weeks, Hebrew classes with our chaplain, dynamic weekly informal education sessions on a variety of interesting themes, our very own football team, interesting speakers, regular parties and socials, trips, girls nights and much more...

Jewish Student Testimonies

"A nice place to live, good student life, well regarded university, why not experience it for yourself?"
"Bristol is a vibrant, culturally diverse city with an exciting nightlife"

Campus Notes

The University of Bristol campus is situated very near to the centre of town. There is a buzzing nightlife, widely regarded as the best in the UK! There is a variety of cafes and bars to suit everyone's needs, as you would expect in a big city. In the first year, many students live in Stoke Bishop halls which is a great place to live, have fun and make friends. Others live closer to the city centre and university, which have great advantages. UWE has a great campus in Frenchay, and you get free buses to town!

Kosher Food & Accommodation

The local Sainsbury's has a small perishable kosher food section. The orthodox synagogue sells frozen kosher meat once a month

Local Synagogue Information

We have both Orthodox and Progressive synagogues in Bristol. J-Soc runs its own Friday night and festival services in addition to this.

Local Community Information

The local Jewish community is always offering a helping hand to the JSoc and willing to help in any way possible.

Final comments

Bristol J-Soc has a great, friendly atmosphere, where everyone is made to feel comfortable. Our events are becoming more varied and exciting and are well attended. If you're thinking of coming to Bristol next year (and we think you should!) please feel free to contact us with any questions.
