Edinburgh JSOC:
Edinburgh J-Soc is active and holds regular bagel lunches and social events. They are an open and inclusive J-Soc and there is a small local community to support the students. The Jewish Society is open to all members of the university community: Jewish or non-Jewish, religious or non-religious, and people of all different political beliefs and persuasions. It celebrates festivals, holds bagel lunches and welcome speakers on Judaism, Jewish Culture (i.e. history, music, and politics) and Israel.
Edinburgh is covered by the UJC Scottish Chaplain, who comes to Edinburgh regularly for educational programming, Friday night meals and festivals. It is also part of the Northern Region of Jewish students, and its annual Burns Ball is a highlight for many students in the North East and Scotland, with kosher Haggis available!
Edinburgh J-Soc is a warm and welcoming society located in a great city. It is not far from places like Durham and Glasgow and there is a good relationship between J-Socs in the Northern Region. Old Town, Grassmarket, Newtown, Bellevue/Canonmills and Leith are all popular student destinations with a variety of pubs, clubs, bars and restaurants that will appeal to all students. The Royal Mile is also good for cafes, restaurants and pubs and the Edinburgh University Student Union is great for club nights.

Most kosher food is found in Glasgow, only 45 minutes away by train.

There is a small community with a synagogue. The community supports students and often invites them for services and meals.
