The Students Union shop sells kosher food. There is also a large Jewish community in Manchester about a 20 minute drive from campus, where kosher shops can be found.

There are a number of kosher flats at Oak House in Fallowfield. There is also a new Hillel house.

Local Synagogue Information

The G.E. Centre in Fallowfield, the popular student area in south Manchester, is a privately owned student-led Orthodox synagogue. It is used by the J-Soc to host educational and social events, as well as regular Friday night dinners and social events. It also hosts a revision centre during exam times with free internet, silent study zones and regular kosher meals.

There are also many synagogues in and around Manchester, both Orthodox and Reform.

About UJS

We are the voice of over 8,500 Jewish students, spanning 60 Jewish Societies (J-Socs) on campuses across the UK and Ireland. We are traditional, progressive, cultural and spiritual; we come from the left, centre and right and can be found across religious and political spectrums.

Together we create and deliver powerful campaigns; fighting prejudice, advancing inclusion, and inspiring education and action on the issues that matter to us.
