Sheffield Hillel Open House
22/11/2009
Sheffield Hillel House has had a face lift and is fast-becoming a hub for Jewish students at both Sheffield University and Sheffield Hallam.
This is what the Hillel House is supposed to look like - full of people!

As part of an initiative taken by the community, Sheffield Jewish students have had a House for several years now. However, the Sheffield Hillel house underwent renovations this summer and was officially opened on Sunday, November 22nd at an event attended by the University Vice-Chancellor, Keith Burnett, members of the Jewish community, and students. The House is residential, but also has a communal kitchen and lounge for all J-Soc members. The J-Soc committee, led by president Michael Goodman, has a vision for the Hillel House as a place for Jewish students to enjoy a kosher meal, study, or just relax in front of the tv in the lounge with their friends. This vision is being realised with the hard work of the committee members and the support they receive from their UJC chaplain, Rabbi Garber and UJS.
Sheffield J-Soc holds regular Shabbat dinners, social events and informal education sessions. They also get involved with larger events through Leeds J-Soc, such as Mitzvah Day, Booze4Jews and the Chair Election Roadshow.
