On May 31st 2010, Richard Verber and Adam Pike will be running the London 10K to raise funds exclusively for Jewish Societies (J-Soc) throughout the UK. Click here to sponsor them!
Although conducted without any fanfare or publicity, UJS-Hillel administers the hardship fund every year providing vital resources for Jewish students who would otherwise be unable to go to university. Because of increased demand, UJS-Hillel is doubling the size of the fund next year.
In addition, over the past two years, the Union of Jewish Students (UJS) has doubled the amount of funding given to J-Soc to spend on Friday night meals, film nights, bagel brunches, Israeli cookery classes, Judaism awareness weeks and much more. These activities aim to inspire Jewish students to make an enduring commitment to their Jewish identity, Israel and the community.
The economic downturn has affected UJS' fundraising income. Richard and Adam are running to raise money and ensure that next year's UJS team has as much, if not more, to give to J-Soc.
All funds will be donated to UJS-Hillel which is the main financial contributor to UJS and J-Soc.
