UJS statement on Gaza Flotilla Clash

UJS is firmly committed to the achievement of a two-state solution. As such, we are concerned that recent events and the resulting loss of life only serve to deepen the divide and delay a permanent resolution to the conflict.

Israel's actions are attracting significant media attention and public protest. UJS is concerned that past events in the Middle East have given rise to antisemitic incidents directed at the Jewish community in the UK. With this experience in mind we hope university authorities uphold legitimate and lawful protest but deal swiftly with any antisemitic incidents.

We hope that an investigation is conducted swiftly. This incident once again emphasises the need for an end to the conflict and a two-state solution.
