Be a part of Mitzvah Day 2011

17/10/2011
UJS is proud to be part of Mitzvah Day 2011, a day when Jewish students across the length and breadth of the UK will give of their time, not money, to help good causes.

Since the partnership began in 2008, hundreds of students across more than 20 campuses have run their own Mitzvah Day projects.

Initiatives have included bringing sunshine to seniors and collecting unwanted clothing and food for homeless centres.

Jewish Societies and individual Jewish students are currently planning their projects for this year's Mitzvah Day, on Sunday, 20th November.

The results of the National Jewish Student Survey, released earlier this month, showed that 65% of Jewish students strongly agree that being Jewish is about volunteering to support a charity.

Mitzvah Day, together with Vscheme, the national Jewish volunteering scheme, offer Jewish students the chance to do just that.

To find out more information about Mitzvah Day and to register your interest for your J-Soc, youth movement, or individual project with friends, please be in touch with Mitzvah Day's dedicated Student and Youth Coordinator, Darren Cohen, on 07986 554 921 or darren@mitzvahday.org.uk or the UJS office on 020 7424 3288 or office@ujs.org.uk
