Launch of New Services for London's Jewish Students

29/11/2011
Gone are the days where you would have had to go to Hillel, now Hillel
is coming to you.

Last summer Jewish student leaders in London were consulted about London's provisions and how and where these services were located.

As a result of these discussions it has been decided that the London Euston Student centre will be closing on the 16th December 2011 to be replaced in the next academic term by bespoke services tailored to the needs of our
students.
The new options available to students will be flexible and in tune with their needs. Some of the new options available will be:

Food Services: The National Jewish Student Survey (NJSS) informed us that half of Jewish students want to keep kosher whilst at university. We are, therefore working on delicious and freshly prepared deli-style meat or parev food which would be delivered daily to your campus in time for lunch.

Friday Night Dinners: The Central Synagogue in Great Portland Street will become one of a number of Friday night dinner venues, as well as spaces in both north and south locations for the students' convenience. All of these locations are perfect for their size, location and
facilities allowing for this new flexibility of service provision for students.

Social Events: UJS have already confirmed with a selection of London's bars in student areas who have granted the use of spaces for such events providing tailored locations for
socialising.

Dan Grabiner, UJS President stated, 'London will remain a top priority for UJS. Our London JSocs officer Emily Black will continue her hard work for and on behalf of our students in London to ensure that the service and provisions that they need will be on offer to them.'

Dan Marcus, Chief Executive of UJS said that, 'Our National Jewish Student Survey provided us with the evidence for this new and increased provision to take shape. I am pleased to see how these flexible and varied services will allow for London students to enjoy their campus
life in London even more.'

This new approach and new set of locations will provide J Socs and students with a variety of choices to enhance their social, cultural and all-round Jewish experience whilst studying at university in London.
