UJS to chair UCL J-Soc and Tzedek Panel Discussion

01/12/2011
On Monday, December 5, UCL J-Soc, together with a panel of experts will debate the motion, 'Overseas Volunteering, is it a waste of time?'

The panel will discuss whether overseas volunteering provides travelers and communities a way to appreciate each other's cultures, and work towards a better future, or whether it does more harm than good.

Panelists will include Clive Lawton, the co-founder of Limmud and now one of its Senior Consultants; Mike Rowson MSc, senior teaching fellow at the UCL Centre for International Health and Development; and Benji Holzman MSc who led Tzedek's annual volunteer program in Ghana this past summer whilst writing his MSc dissertation on NGO Collaboration for his Urban Policy and International Development degree at LSE.

The panel will be chaired by Richard Verber, Professional Development and Leadership Training Director at UJS. This year, UJS helped Vscheme, a J-Soc volunteering initiative, run by students for students, become a national programme.

Time: 6-7pm (Please arrive 15 minutes before if possible)
Location: Room D103, 25 GORDON STREET, LONDON, WC1H 0AY

Also present will be Tzedek's Fairtrade Chocolate Fountain!

All welcome.
