Daniel Bowman UCL J-Soc 's education officer said, 'It was not only an impressive effort from Jewish students at UCL, but also students from different backgrounds and societies such as The Model UN and Debating Societies. It isn't right for partisan motions on the Israel-Palestine conflict or any other divisive international issue to be passed through our union council, a body of 25 officers voted for by just 12% of students. I hope that this will help to inspire those students who are made to feel uncomfortable by motions put forward in their student unions to realise that they can work with others to harness support against unreasonable motions, put forward their own and affect change.'
Dan Sheldon UJS Campaigns Director said, 'The students have spoken and they have rejected the divisive politics promoted by an unrepresentative minority. We are pleased that UCL Union is once again a safe space for all students, where dialogue and education on Israel-Palestine can take place.'
