Pike is Re-Elected!

Wednesday 10th of December 2008

Adam Pike

This weekend saw the re-election of Adam Pike as National Chairperson of the Union of Jewish Students at the first annual UJS training Summit for newly elected JSoc Committees.

Adam Pike was first elected in December 2007. After 6 months as UJS Chair he has managed to consolidate and strengthen his support amongst Jewish students. Of those who nominated him to stand 10 were Jewish Society Presidents and he was voted for unanimously by the 60 newly elected Jsoc committee members present.  His re-election is an indication that Jewish students and JSoc feel that UJS' strategic plan is headed in the right direction.
After his election Adam Pike said:
"I'm delighted by the support I've received from across the country. UJS is a union of its members and their endorsement is the most important measure of our success. I am as excited and energised about my second term as I was about the first. Jewish student life on campus is thriving and although we face some tough challenges I'm confident that we can make the experience of every Jewish student at university even more positive."

UJS General Manager and Chief Executive of UJS Hillel Daniel Marcus said:
"Adam has done a tremendous job and the experience which he will carry forward is paramount to the continuing success of UJS."

Recruitment for next year's team at UJS will begin shortly and announcements will be made via the UJS website.

Some specific reasons students have for supporting him has been the introduction of the hugely successful JEUFA Cup inter-Jewish Society football competition, next term's Jewish Student Awards Dinner and this weekend's UJS National Summit. Where newly elected committees from 7 of the largest JSocs were all invited by UJS to take part in an essential training weekend. They were given practical hands-on knowledge and skills, as well as meeting their counterparts from other campuses so that JSocs are able to collaborate and share ideas amongst themselves to improve the quality of their programmes and events.
