Israel for everyone!

UJS is proud to present a brand new trip to Israel and Palestine for students of all religions, backgrounds and cultures.

Whether you’ve visited Israel before and your friends are wondering what it’s like there, or you’ll be experiencing the country for the first time together, here’s some of what you can look forward to in this 7-day whirlwind experience:

  • Walk through the ancient cobbled streets of Jerusalem’s Old City
  • Experience the vibrant, cosmopolitan city of Tel Aviv
  • Visit Ramallahthe current main city of Palestine’s government, economy and social and cultural life
  • Come face-to-face with some of the most pressing social issues facing Israel today
  • Explore the diversity of Jaffa, where history and modernity blend along with the mixed Jewish, Muslim, Christian, Arab and Israeli population
  • See firsthand the realities of the Israel-Palestine conflict in 2017
  • And so much more!

Previous similar trips that UJS have run have included visits to the Tel Aviv Gay Center; meeting the first – and to date, only – Eritrean refugee to be granted asylum in Israel; visiting coexistence initiatives throughout Israel and the West Bank, established to bring Jewish and Muslim citizens of Israel together in business and social settings; meeting Ethiopian immigrants at the African Refugee Development Center; meeting peace activists; visits to settlements in the West Bank; visits to Ramallah, Rawabi and refugee centers in Palestine; tours of the Old City of Jerusalem, central to numerous world religions; meetings with Israeli and Palestinian political representatives, including MKs (Members of Knesset, Israel’s Parliament); and more.

There’s fun to be had too – ice cream and watermelon on the beachfloating in the Dead Sea, riding a camel in the southern Negev desert, bargaining in the marketplaceshiking in the northern forests… How many of these can we fit into a week? Come and find out!

Please note that these are example activities based on previous UJS trips to Israel and Palestine. The final itinerary will be confirmed and distributed to participants nearer the start of the trip.

Fully qualified, experienced tour guides will accompany the group.
