J-Soc Expenses Form
Please read and familiarise yourself with the JSoc Expenses form. This needs to be completed and submitted WITHIN ONE WEEK OF THE EVENT TAKING PLACE. You can use this form to claim multiple events taking place within one week.
Your responsibilities for receiving sponsorship:
Branding – On ALL JSoc events which receive UJS funding please include on the publicity/marketing material ‘supported/sponsored by UJS’ together with the UJS logo. This includes term planners and flyers. If you or your events/publicity/graphic designers do not have this, please e-mail your sabbatical officer.
Ticket sales - Events must be hosted through our website – This means you can be refunded quickly and receive 100% of the ticket sales.
Reputation - It is the responsibility of the JSoc to ensure that events they are running fall within UJS' core values https://www.ujs.org.uk/about_us
Inclusivity - JSoc is for all students who feel connected to being Jewish. Please ensure your event is inclusive and accessible to all
Help – If you need any help, advice or support please be in touch with your sabbatical officer.
What we will allocate money for;-
UJS is here to support you and your JSoc in having the best possible Jewish time on campus. We will endeavour to support you in any way we can.
If you ever want to raise money for UJS, that would be lovely. When considering raising money for charity we would always appreciate JSocs considering supporting UJS.
To make your lives as easy as possible, we’ve fixed our amounts, per head, for how much we’ll allocate for different events. Please see below for full details. This should result in JSocs receiving an accurate amount of money.
For any events with 15 people or fewer, UJS will cover reasonable costs for the event. This means that UJS will cover the cost of the event so that the JSoc isn’t losing any money (your JSoc will need to provide receipts/proof of money spent).
For any events that have 15-30 people, UJS will cover 50% of reasonable costs
For all other size events you can claim the below:
£1 per head:
-Social events such as quizzes, Chollah Bakes, Onegs, Kiddush
- Lunch and learns/ Bagel lunches
- J-Soc Ball
£1.50 per head
- Shabbat Lunch
£2 per head:
-Celebrating Jewish festivals
-Friday Night Dinners
-Speaker events arranged by J-Soc
-Festival or Freshers barbecue
- JSoc led campaigns events
£3 per head:
-Peer-led education events
-Israel Engagement
-Social action events
-Interfaith events
NOTE:
We encourage all J-Socs to include a wide range of activities throughout the year addressing a broad variety of subjects.
Israel engagement and Interfaith are integral parts of their J-Soc programme for students. Therefore the more Israel engagement and Interfaith activity that is present in your plans the more funding we will allocate outside of our per head funding! Feel free to be in touch with your sabbatical officer.
Perhaps you want to plan a large event like a Shabbaton! Please discuss with your Sabbatical Officer for additional funding for such events.
These are just some examples of the kinds of events that your J-Soc could run. Please be as creative and innovative as possible to provide diverse and varied events for your members.
NB If you have organised a speaker with one of our campus partners, they should cover all travel, security and food costs, not J-Soc.
