Today we remember Alan Senitt, UJS National Chair 2001-2003, whose life was cut short too early on this day in 2006 when he died defending a friend.
In addition to being UJS Chair, Alan was the National President for BBYO UK and Ireland and a lobbyist for BICOM. He fought passionately for what he believed in and was a natural leader.
Recent recipients of the Alan Senitt Outstanding Contribution to Campus Life Award, presented in honour of his memory and legacy at the annual UJS Awards, include Izzy Lenga (2017) and Joel Salmon (2016), who said at the time: 'The work that [Alan] did as a young leader in our community is truly inspirational. He dedicated his life to the Jewish community, but also to strengthening it by reaching out to others.'
Alan continually demonstrated that youth is no barrier to leadership, a principle that guides us as we continue to empower students according to his legacy.
