Sam Hillel

Hi, my name is Sam and I am one of the Sabbatical Officers for 2018/19. Born and raised in North West London, I went to Immanuel College and JFS and then onto the University of Birmingham where I recently graduated with a BA in human geography. During my time at university I was elected onto the J-Soc committee as part of the campaigns team where we worked to make Jewish students feel safe on campus as well as promote Jewish and Israel engagement and education.

As part of my role here at UJS I am excited to also be the Israel Programmes Coordinator. Since spending my gap year in Israel, I have gone on to leading four Israel trips over the last four summers, with Immanuel College, Yavneh College and twice with FZY. I’m looking forward to building on and developing the amazing work already in place here and experiencing Israel and Palestine with a whole new set of people, opinions and perspectives.

When I’m not leading Israel trips you can usually find me talking about leading them whilst watching Netflix, eating sushi, complaining about David Luiz and listening to music twice as old as myself.

About UJS

We are the voice of over 8,500 Jewish students, spanning 60 Jewish Societies (J-Socs) on campuses across the UK and Ireland. We are traditional, progressive, cultural and spiritual; we come from the left, centre and right and can be found across religious and political spectrums.

Together we create and deliver powerful campaigns; fighting prejudice, advancing inclusion, and inspiring education and action on the issues that matter to us.
