Approx Jewish Students on campus - 20+

The UEA J-Soc is a small, warm and friendly community open to all students attending university in East Anglia. We host a variety of events throughout the academic year including drinking socials, dinner at restaurants and picnic lunch gettogethers. We are hosting our first official Friday night Shabbat dinner this year, and will be hosting events to celebrate Jewish holidays.

President (18/19): Victoria Selwyn

What is your most memorable moment as J-Soc President?

Our trip to the Israeli, Jerusalem street food restaurant in Norwich town centre, Ruth’s kitchen. We all enjoyed delicious, homecooked food including shawarma, hummus, falafel. After dinner we headed to a bar just down the street to share cocktails and stories.

What is your favourite event you have attended?

Last year’s LCR (student union club) night out with the J-Soc and their fellow non-Jewish friends. We played games and drank and talked, getting to know each other and sharing our Jewish heritage with those who were interested.

Whats the best thing about Norwich J-Soc?

We are a small and close group of friends who look out for each other and share Jewish holidays together in an informal setting

About UJS

We are the voice of over 8,500 Jewish students, spanning 60 Jewish Societies (J-Socs) on campuses across the UK and Ireland. We are traditional, progressive, cultural and spiritual; we come from the left, centre and right and can be found across religious and political spectrums.

Together we create and deliver powerful campaigns; fighting prejudice, advancing inclusion, and inspiring education and action on the issues that matter to us.
