UJS Antisemitism Awareness Training

As you may have seen on our social media channels, UJS’ new antisemitism awareness training programme is in full-swing. The training programme, launched this year, provides sessions on antisemitism awareness for students’ union sabbatical officers and staff. The training also gives SU officers and staff the tools to support their Jewish students on campus. The sessions are being delivered by Campaigns Organiser Daniel Kosky and Campaigns Sabbatical Officer Bradley Langer.

Alongside the training sessions, we have also created a booklet which acts as a guide, titled ‘How to support your Jewish students’ which we give out to SUs who have taken part in the programme. The guide lists a number of follow-up steps SUs can take in order to better support their Jewish students. In addition, the guide also provides SUs with the steps they should take if certain situations, such as an antisemitic incident, arises on their campus.

Despite the programme only launching in July, we have already delivered training at the following SUs:

  • York
  • Leeds
  • Birmingham
  • Essex
  • Hertfordshire
  • Durham
  • Nottingham
  • Queen Mary
  • University of the West of England

  • Lancaster
  • UCL
  • Sheffield
  • Sussex
  • City, University of London
  • Oxford

In addition to our training programme at SUs, we are also delivering training for the National Union of Students.

We have already delivered training for all Full-Time Officers, and have training planned for all NUS staff and volunteers.

We are aiming to deliver training to every SU which has a Jewish society by the end of the academic year. If you’re a

Jewish student or SU staff member who would like to bring the training to your campus, please email [email protected]
