Drake is a Jewish and Black Canadian rapper. His first three albums were all critical successes and propelled him to the forefront of hip hop. Drake’s music has drawn influence from hip hop, R&B, Jamaican dancehall and UK drill, and is often praised one of the most influential figures in hip hop. He is the highest-certified digital singles artist ever in the United States, having moved 142 million units based on combined sales and on-demand streams. 

His father, Dennis Graham, is African American and a practicing Catholic from Memphis, Tennessee, who worked as a drummer. His mother, Sandra “Sandi” Graham is Ashkenazi Jewish Canadian and worked as an English teacher and florist.  He attended a Jewish school and had a bar mitzvah at 13, as well as a second bar mitzvah in 2011 where he reaffirmed his commitment to his Jewish identity.
