Approx Jewish Students on campus - 700+

Oxford JSoc is the social, cultural, religious and pastoral home of Jewish students in Oxford. The JSoc acts as a home away from home with frequent events and opportunities which are open to all. We run weekly kosher Friday Night Dinners, which often attract up to 100 Jewish students, and Shabbat lunches, as well as regular educational, social, and social action events. Most of our events happen in the Oxford Jewish Centre, Oxford’s main synagogue which is less than a ten minute walk from Oxford’s city centre.

Apart from Friday Night Dinners, we offer Shabbat lunch and Pirkei Avox - Oxford's take on a seudah discussion.

We also organise various weekday events throughout the term, from "Toast the Term" in Week 1 to Jewbilation which involves 200 attendees dancing the hora to Jewish tunes. Oxford JSoc also works very closely with our chaplains, Tracey and Rabbi Michael Rosenfeld-Schueler, who help us with event organisation and more general support for all Jewish students in Oxford.

The president this term is Trevor Stern.

Kosher Food & Accommodation

In addition to the kosher meals we host in the The Oxford Jewish Centre every Friday night and Shabbat lunch during term-time, we also have very popular 3-course kosher dinners every weekday during term.

Kosher food is also available in Oxford from Sainsbury’s on Cowley Road and at the Slager Jewish Student Centre, which is run by Chabad.
