Society leader: Siia Tilinin and Claire Carden
We are a small Jewish Society of around 20 or so members due to the small student body at Central. We were founded in the academic year 2020/2021 as the first Drama school to ever have a jsoc. We are a lively and diverse group of students, from a wide range of backgrounds and countries. We meet regularly at the pub for socials and have run intimate Friday night dinners, usually the highlight of your student experience. We also run regular events for Holocaust Memorial Day, Yom HaShoah, Pride and partner up with other small London jsocs where possible. We are currently in the process of building working relationships with surrounding Jewish organisations such as JW3. As a society we are working with the school and the student union in order make Central a more welcoming and accessible place for Jewish students.
Kosher food and accommodation
Central does not have its own accommodation but you can stay in University of London intercollegiate halls, however there are no kosher provisions. Central is in North London as a short bus ride away from Jewish areas such as Golders Green and Hendon where there are many different restaurants and stores to buy kosher food. Your sabbatical officer can help to guide you towards food or provisions to make your Jewish life easier as a student in London
