Approx Jewish Students on campus - 50+
Imperial Jsoc is a relatively small, but tight-knit, friendly and active Jsoc. We host a wide range of activities – from social events, such as bar nights and movie nights, to educational events, both traditional Jewish learning and bringing in more secular speakers with a Jewish twist. We are also heavily involved with other London Jsocs. To join Imperial JSoc through the union website, click here.
Kosher Food & Accommodation
Every Friday night during term time, there is a student Friday night dinner in central London. For more information, check out the Facebook page, the website, or contact us.
In central London, kosher food can be found at Reubens (restaurant, Baker Street), and in Selfridges (department store, Oxford Street), however both are expensive. Supermarkets also stock kosher food.
Local Synagogue Information
There are four synagogues within half an hour walk from campus whilst the Liberal synagogue is an hour's walk away. All would be happy to welcome you any Shabbat or Yom Tov.
New West End Synagogue (Orthodox). They have a Kiddush every week, the Rabbi and Chazan are both ex-Imperial students!
Western Marble Arch Synagogue (Orthodox). The largest synagogue in the area, they always have a large Kiddush with hot food.
Chelsea Synagogue (Orthodox, although less formal than those above). It is very small – they tend not to get a minyan apart from on Shabbat morning.
Chabad of Belgravia (Chabad). It is a very small, less religious community. If you intend to go here, we advise contacting the Rabbi (for whom we have contact information) first, as they are often surprised by strangers!
The Liberal Jewish Synagogue (Liberal). This synagogue can be reached in an hour on foot or about 45 minutes on public transport.
The UJS Sabbatical Officer for this campus is Amy
