Our People

Amanda Sefton

Hi all! I'm Amanda Sefton and I'm so excited to be on the Sabbatical team 2021/22, as the Head of Campaigns. This is going to be an amazing year with a fab team and I can't wait to see what we can all accomplish together. For the last year I was a Sabbatical Officer in UJS, focused on campaigns, and now I'm taking the next step in my UJS journey to be the Head of Campaigns. Last year was an incredible year, mixed with online conference, virtual rally's but also small in person J-Soc events.

A bit about me; I love to travel and explore different cultures and sites, my favourite city in the world is Washington DC (apart from Jerusalem and London), and I am the biggest Disney fan possible - ask me anything!

Campus sessions I can run:

Judaism and American politics - available in person and on Zoom

How does the American Jewish community identify themselves within their political spectrum? We will be looking at the American Jewish community and how that connects with the American political system, and examining the other factors which may affect how American Jews may identify and vote.

Gender and Judaism - available in person and on Zoom

Is Judaism a matriarchal or patriarchal religion? We will be examining the different halacha, practices and traditions and comparing that with influences of society to understand the gender roles within Judaism.
