Louis Danker Elected UJS President 2025-26

In a victory that saw more votes cast than ever before, with all candidates running exciting and engaging campaigns, Louis Danker was announced as the winner of the election at the end of the annual UJS Convention and Conference where hundreds of Jewish students voted on policies for UJS.

Close to 2,000 Jewish students across the UK and Ireland have voted in this year’s UJS Presidential election, the results of which were announced at UJS Conference on Sunday, 15th December 2024.

The election took place over two weeks of brilliant campaigning by three dedicated candidates, Naomi Bernstein, Louis Danker, and Daniel Grossman. Louis’ Manifesto covered a wide range of issues around Jewish student life. These included a focus on proactively tackling antisemitism, increasing national initiatives for JSocs, and continuing to grow and diversify UJS’ programming. Louis ran a campaign under the slogan “Proud. Diverse. United.”

Ahead of the announcement of results at UJS Conference, the three candidates received a letter from Minister of State and MP for Finchley and Golders Green, Sarah Sackman who offered her advice, support, and admiration for the leadership shown by the candidates.

Following the announcement of his victory, Louis said:

"It’s the biggest honour to be elected the next UJS President and to have the chance to lead an organisation I owe so much to. For the next six months I’m excited to support Sami and her wonderful team in their work, recapturing Jewish pride on campus and building a better future for Jewish students across the UK & Ireland."

Incumbent UJS President, Sami Berkoff, commented:

"All three candidates ran such Incredible campaigns. I want to thank our Returning Officer and former Head of Campaigns Amanda Sefton, who oversaw the largest election turnout In UJS history, and to congratulate all of the election teams behind these three fantastic candidates. Mostly of course I want to congratulate Louis for an exceptional election victory. I am so excited to not only continue my year, but to see where Louis takes it in the future."

Louis will take up the role of UJS President in July 2024, following the completion of Sami Berkoff’s term.
