Sarah and Guy reflect on their experiences of Holocaust Survivor Week

The National Union of Students (NUS) has concluded a disciplinary investigation into its President. NUS has chosen to dismiss their President Shaima Dallali. This decision follows an initial independent investigation by Rebecca Tuck KC.

In The Gates of the Forest Elie Wiesel concludes that “God made man because he loves stories”. I decided to bring Aleph, the magazine of the Union of Jewish Students, back into print, after a few decades in hibernation, because a new generation of Jewish students has stories for the rest of us.

The following was written by Jodie Franks, who is our Head of Programming and Sixth Form Development and LGBTQ+ ally. Jodie studied Classical Civilisation, and wrote her dissertation on gender roles in the ancient world.

Amanda Sefton our current Head of Campaigns, reflects back on her two years at UJS and shares her experiences and insight into what it has been like working in UJS:

Over the past few months, there have been a lot of discussions and news stories over the issues with antisemitism and NUS. Jewish students have felt excluded and ignored and now our voice is being heard and Jewish students are not being silent.

On the 7th of April, it was my privilege, along with my colleague Shayna, to host the 14th annual UJS Student Awards. Our largest ever!
