In a separate achievement, Israeli runner Marhu Teferi achieved a silver medal in the men's marathon at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest. This remarkable accomplishment marks Israel's best-ever placement in the event and positions Teferi as a strong contender for medals in the upcoming Paris Olympics. The Ethiopian-born Teferi finished second with a time of 2:09:12, narrowly trailing Uganda's Victor Kiplangat, who clocked a winning time of 2:08:53. Ethiopian Leul Gebresilase claimed the bronze with a time of 2:09:19. Teferi's achievement is historic, as it represents Israel's first-ever medal in the men's marathon.
